The Switch – part 1

My name is Dan. I am a 39 year old married man.

I have been married to Jill for eleven years now and our life has been nice. Nice and stable with enough money to do what we want. We have no kids, but that’s OK because we never really had a big desire for kids. Our friends with kids always say “I couldn’t imagine my life without them” Well, I feel pleased to let the others have their kids, and we will have our “personal time”.

Jill and I used to hang out all night together when we were newlyweds. Either with our friends, or she would sit at the table and watch me cook. But lately she works in her “studio” until I call her for dinner.

Jill is beautiful at 35 years old with wavy blonde hair that falls just past her shoulders. She is just a bit curvy, but fit and healthy. Jill is perfect to me, but she lacks confidence and calls herself fat. Her skin is very pale and smooth. Every time I see her cute smile my heart melts and I remember why I fell in love.

I’m pretty excited tonight because Jill has mentioned I might get lucky this weekend. We used to have sex a few times a week, but now it’s once a month. I get the feeling she lost her desire for sex. It just doesn’t do much for her, but she has sex for my benefit. For some reason oral sex is out. I got a few blowjobs before the wedding, but since we married it’s just the old in & out.

I am making a nice meal of steak with fiddleheads and salad. After a long winter it’s nice to break out the grill. I’m not a great cook, but pretty good. I like to experiment with unique ingredients. I have a vegetable garden, and a big yard with fruit trees, and wild herbs. It is springtime and the fiddleheads are just popping up from the cold ground. I harvested a nice load of fiddleheads for dinner tonight. Lightly steamed and slathered with butter, they taste a lot like asparagus.

I also collected a new herb tonight. My field guide identifies it as “Switch Sorrel”. It’s an unassuming multi-branch plant that looks kind of like a clover with serrated leaves. It is edible, with a mild flavor that will work well in our salad tonight. The guide also says the Native Americans used it as an aphrodisiac. I don’t believe any of that aphrodisiac nonsense.

After dinner Jill looked at me and said “that was great, I’m stuffed”.

I said “If you don’t have seconds , that means you’re a wuss!”

“I’m no wuss, bring out the desert”

“Oops, no desert tonight. You win on a technicality” I said

As she was cleaning up the kitchen, she said “I’m feeling a bit off, what was that new herb again?”

“It’s called ‘switch sorrell’“

She said “It was good, but if you poisoned me I swear I’ll come back and haunt you.”

“No, it’s safe, I checked it in the book, and ate some first.”

She said “OK, well, I’m going to go read and sleep”… Oh well, there goes my hopes for sex tonight.
