The monster in the forest

Legend has it that there’s this bulky monster that lives in the deepest darkest parts of the forest. It’s said to devour unexpected visitors who come across its lair. While other stories claim that it wonders the forest aimlessly looking for victims.

It’s described as having a muscular body with dark skin and burning red polka dots on certain parts of its body. Its eyes are also glowing red and it stands at almost 7 feet tall. but these are stories no one knows for certain. And the ones who venture out to find out are never to return. Sounds like a myth for sure. But two young adults were tempted to find out if it was real or not — no matter how stupid that is.

Not much is known about the creature or where it comes from. We just know it has a particular desire when it comes to certain things — or should we say, women. If certain women piqued its interest, it was stated to get real close and personal with her. Whatever that means. That it would do something to the women it’s interested in. The rest of the information about it is unknown.

Cole and Sally are brother and sister who decided to enter the forest to put the myths to bed once and for all. They set up a campsite and started chatting about the beast from the legend. “Why did I let you talk me into this, Cole?” Sally said nervously as she looked around the campsite as it was slowly beginning to get dark. “don’t you want to find out if it’s true or not? This is a chance to uncover something truly extraordinary!” Sally could never get through to her brother. He was always like that when he was a child. Stubborn and ambitious. Once he has his mind set on something, you can’t talk him out of it. “I don’t care about that, Cole! What if it’s a dangerous but thirsty creature as it stated? We could be ripped apart!” Sally didn’t like the idea one bit. Her body was practically trembling. She didn’t want to be out there any more than she had to.

She was only out there because he talked her into going with him. “You worry too much, Sally! Your big brother will take care of you!” Oh, yeah, that’s reassuring. As if he can go toe to toe with a creature. That eagerness would get him killed one day. He made sure he had the necessary equipment ready. They would treat it as though it was a yeti and nothing else. Unaware that the monster is very much real. As real as drinking water on a hot Monday morning.

The siblings didn’t think about bringing any weapons with them — not that would do any good. But something is better than nothing. But their actions are going to cause someone else to be harmed in a way you would not expect. Something unexpected indeed. Sally had a bad feeling about this. But she knew her brother would not listen to her.

Uncovering this myth was his main objective. Even if it might get him killed. They prepared everything as it was starting to get dark. And boy, was it frightening! Darkness plus the forest makes it terrifying. They had a bunch of snacks and all kinds of things for emergencies. For whatever they may need. So far, nothing around them was wilderness. Mother nature was all around them. It also gave off of feeling of serenity. As if all of their problems could melt away in an instant.

They both started to have a feeling that maybe things would be fine. It has to. This was just a story made up of nerds. It has to be fake, right? Despite his high spirits about this, he was far more paranoid than he let on. He just didn’t let it show. And would move with confidence, which should also help his sister relax. A few hours later, it hit 6 pm and was getting darker. They made sure to turn their flashlights on and ventured into the forest.

“Why are we doing this, Cole?” Sally asked moving and watching her surroundings.
