The Loop – part 4

The two doors slid open and then once in the vestibule the second set opened. This was the first time he was in S-Mart so Alex stepped to the side to get his bearings. Bakery to the left and produce to the right. Past the produce he saw the sign for the pharmacy.

He weaved in and out of the display’s setup right before the registers. The store was vacant of customers at the moment. Only seeing two. A cute blonde lady in her 40’s was behind the only register open. Alex nodded to her with a smile. Her finger twirled her hair as she smiled back.

He saw a nerdy guy in thick rimmed glasses look up from behind the counter at customer service. Alex gave him a nod, but the guy just looked back down and started working. With a shake of his head he passed the frozen food section and came upon the pharmacy counter.

A plump but very cute girl was reading a book. She was short, just barely over five feet tall. She was dressed in tan pants and a black shirt which barely gelded her massive chest in. Over that was the grey store apron. She wore a long light black sweater over the whole outfit. As she looked up it was hard for Alex to determine if she was cold or unsure of herself. Her long black hair was pulled up in a bun with a cute little tiara. Her name tag read “Mirabel,”

“Good morning,” she said in a perky voice that didn’t meet her eyes. “I’m Mir and welcome to S-Mart. How can I help you?” The book was moved shyly to the counter face down now to list her place as she moved from the back of the work space to her side of the counter.

“Good morning to you Mir,” Alex said back in a cheerful voice. “I’m picking up three pre***********ions for Mary Tomas.” He continued with the rest of the information Mommy Tomas put in his notes.

“Where is Mrs. Tomas? Is she ok?” The younger girl asked with real concern in her voice. She leaned forward over the counter.

“Yes, yes she is ok,” Alex said quickly. Pausing for a heartbeat he continued,” she knew I was coming out this way so she asked me to pick them up. Save her a trip, you know?”

Relaxing at his words, she settled back. “That is good to know. She is an amazing woman,” Mir said as she turned back to get the medicine.

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you the whole truth,” he mumbled under his breath. He still didn’t believe it from the sweet older lady.

“What did you say? I didn’t hear you back here,” Mir called back.

“I just said how amazing she is. We have been spending a lot of time together of late. I’m seeing a different side of her than just landlord.”

Walking back to the counter Mir said,” you are one lucky duck. I would like to hang out with her. She is so funny. Funny and witty.”

“You can say that again. I tell her you guys should do something outside of here,” Alex said, waving his arms around. As he turned, he saw a stunning blonde walking to them. She was a few inches short of the six feet and had an athletic build. Her muscle arms poked out of her small tight black shirt. The tan pants were painted on, and her black Chucks completed her work outfit. The grey apron was hanging loosely on her right shoulder as her bag was on her left. Her hair was long and wavy. Her makeup was done like she was heading out to the club. Alex knew her type, complete bitch.

“See something you like, loser,” she said as she walked past me. “As if I would give you the time of day.” Her hips swayed by me as I was no concern. As she passed Alex did peek at her ass and as she knew it was going to happen, she called back “ perv!!”

Turning her attention to Mir. “I bet he didn’t look at you like that you, dumpy fatty. What is with all the tiaras? You think you are some kind of princess? As if?” Those words cut at sweet Mir.

The young behind the counter turned to hide a tear forming at the corner of her eye. “That is one rude chick,” Alex said out loud.

“She is not just rude but mean too. Randy just let her get away with it cause she flirts with him.” Her head turned to see Randy watching. “He is a bigger nerd then me so a beautiful girl like Patches can twist him around her finger.”

“Wait a second. Her name is Patches? What the hell?”

“Yeah, she tells us to all call her Pat. Her friends call her P but I would never. I just try to stay away from her.” She turned back to face Alex. Her eyes are a bit more red.

Alex paused for a second. If he is in these loops and nothing happens from the day before.
