Making a deal – Chapter 1

Brad and Jenny were in their late 20s when they decided to abandon plans for a family. Brad was working in Advertising and every time he had an idea his boss would shoot it down. Frustrated at what he saw has poor planning he sat down with his wife and plotted. He resigned from his job, she did as well, and they opened their own business. Starting on the kitchen table they soon began to get clients coming to them. They rented an office and a secretary to answer the phones. Now in their early 30s business was booming.

Brad got a call from a large business wanting to transfer their advertising from Brad’s old company to him. He loved the idea, not only because the business was large but it also meant shafting his old company. He made an appointment with them. Friday afternoon at his office. He was very excited as was Jenny. “This is big honey” he said enthusiastically “it means lots of money”. That night they had passionate sex. It had been a while since Brad was so attentive. Jenny had even wondered if they would ever get back to the sex they had had when they first met.

Friday morning and they arrived at the office. “We need to get contracts ready” Brad said, but noticed his secretary wasn’t at her desk. Just then the phone rang. It was Marie, his secretary, she said she wouldn’t be in as she was sick. “Damn” mumbled Brad as he hung up “Marie is sick”. He looked at Jenny “Honey could you play Secretary today”. Jenny looked up, somewhat shocked. After all, she was an equal owner of the business. When she reminded Brad of this he begged her. “Really darling, I need someone I can trust”. Jenny was annoyed but finally agreed. “Maybe you need to look less managerial and more like a secretary. You could nip home and change”. Jenny had no idea what he meant but having agreed to be the secretary she did as he asked. Sorting through her wardrobe at home she scowled.
