Daddy’s Girl Part 3

“I think it’s time for bed baby girl. I love you.” He tells me, pulling me close to him so he can spoon me.
“Mmm, goodnight Daddy. I love you too.” I whisper before falling asleep seconds later.
I wake up in Daddy’s room, momentarily forgetting why I was there. Once it comes back to me, I smile happily to myself. When I roll over, the bed is empty so I get up to go find Daddy. I go downstairs still wearing the old t-shirt. I walk into the kitchen and find Daddy sitting at the table with a cup of coffee. He is facing away from me. I bend down and kiss his cheek.
“Good morning Daddy.” I whisper in his ear. He jumps, nearly falling out of his chair. He sits back up and clears his throat.
“Hello, Amy.” He says quietly, looking into his cup of coffee. That’s weird. He almost never calls me Amy unless he’s being serious or upset. I sit down next to him. Looking at him I can see that he looks nervous. He also looks…ashamed. Oh no. I’m afraid to ask, but I have to.
“What’s wrong Daddy?” I try to sound as calm as possible. He sighs, shaking his head. He looks up at me for the first time. He can barely look me in the eyes.
“Amy, last night was…a mistake. It can’t happen again.” He speaks slowly and clearly to me. I feel my heart sink. What was I going to do? I just had the most amazing night of my life and it can’t happen again.
“But Daddy, last night was incredible. I loved every second of it. How can you say that was a mistake?” My voice shakes at the last part. I start to feel very emotional. Daddy notices and takes my hand in his. He looks into my eyes this time.
“Amy, I love you more than anything in this world. I don’t want to damage any more than I already have since last night. It was wrong. Fathers and daughters do not do things like that. You need to be with someone your own age.” Every word hurts more than the one before as he talks.
